Floral for Fall?

Can you wear Floral in the Fall? I believe the answer is "yes" provided it is not something of neon, pastel or otherwise seasonally unsuitable color patterns that shout out Summer.

Spectacular Saigon!

Wearing

Vietnamese Traditional Dress : Ao Dai
Conical Hat : Souvenir from Vietnam
Dep Lop Sandal : Sandals made of recycled tires
Eye wear : Mango

Yet again, another amazing destination has been added on my travel list. My first impression about the country is far from what I read online... Believe me, in every places I go, I usually read about people's testimonials, most of these posts is all about warning traveler of the dangers, the pickpockets, of the ripoffs and the lasting impression about the Vietnam war. The thoughts of reading all this negativity was quite upsetting. I felt my safety was seriously at risk

Wardrobe Essential : Ft. The Biker Jacket

Biker jacket comes in different forms, either faux or leather - this jacket remains a cool classic. I'm really glad that I'm still able to showcase this wardrobe staple in spite of the unpredictable weather in UAE.

Holiday Rush!!!

With barely less than a week before the boxing day, the influx of people going to the malls are rapidly increasing - some are taking advantage of avoiding traffic during rush hours, long queue in stores particularly for those outlets having "BIG SALES", whilst others are now busy on their shopping list and making sure that they have everything for the Christmas day - unfortunately in my case - it looks like there is no big rush that is going to happen. Not only that I did cut down from my expenses, I am also saving some for my upcoming vacation which is fast approaching...pretty ecstatic!!!

Since we were avoiding rush places like Abu Dhabi Mall and Marina Mall , my fellow blogger cum photographer, Miggy and I decided to walk through the nearby Mall which is called The Galleria - Abu Dhabi's finest and luxurious mall located in Al Maryah island.  There's magnificent views across the waterfront and the city's landscape showing the true glamour of the metropolis!!! What an awesome place in the region!!!

I would truly recommend this spectacular place for those haven't been in this part of the city - it is for you to explore and find out what this place could offer!!!! In the meantime, please enjoy the sightings below;

Details of today's outfit :

I'll leave you guys with a warm and merry Christmas y'all and hoping for the best of luck to all of us!!! Please drop me a comment or suggestions if you wish to :)

Wardrobe Weeding is the key!!!

I have been very active on my posts recently and often times, you’ll find me showcasing my #OOTD’s or simply sharing you my #fashionspirations  (fashion inspirations outfits) either in Lookbook, Facebook or mostly in Instagram. By doing so – it also means different types of clothing’s needed!!! This is where my frustrations comes in place- The most dreadful part in choosing the clothes to wear is either I feel that the clothes is too small on my size (blame it on the extra pounds I gained!!! Grrrr!!!) or that feeling where you think you have “nothing to wear “ when you actually have a full wardrobe of clothes

I get it , sometimes we were blinded by all these enticing "SALES" we saw in the mall and most of us ended up buying things that are just kept “on hangers” – items that are not liked, does not fit properly or perhaps bought on a caprice –impulsive buyers like me can totally relate to this!!!

Then, I started to experiment my mode of dressing – de-clutter those pieces so I could see the true potential of what I have in my closet, only identify pieces that I can still be of used and filter out the rest and voila!!!! I would have never imagined that the outcome is excellent!

Think about this cropped pullover (see photo below) which I got from women's section in H&M which took me one year before I could finally used it as a layering piece for this super chic custom fit white button up which I also worn once

After clearing out my closet - I feel confident that the next time I open my walking wardrobe ( haha!! ) I am going to see something nice and are useful for my kind of style!!!

Details of today's outfit :

Cropped Pullover : H&M
Tattered Jeans : Zara
Burgundy Combat Boots : H&M
Plain Button-up : Iconic

There you have it folks:), I hope you find this post a little helpful in weeding your closet, always remember your style is unique - let it be unique for yourself and yet identifiable for others" - Anna Wintour

Taking advantage of Winter in UAE!!!

It's the time of the season where layering is an important element in clothing, you can never go wrong in having a piece of outerwear with you which you can then wear during nighttime as it usually gets a little warmer after that...

Having been a residence in the desert for more than a decade, I have experienced the hottest temperature averaging from above 38 degrees Celsius which usually occurs during the month of June through September and the cooler season is from Nov. to March which ranges between moderately hot to cold

On average, we experienced longer summer season than winter in UAE so I feel  a sense of relieved every time winter comes- who does not want to retreat from the intense summer heat and year round humidity in the capital?

I'm glad I invested into a durable denim jacket which I actually got from Maison Martin Margiela collaboration with H&M - yes and I am one hell of a lucky guy who actually owns several pieces from that collection!!! sweet!!!!

Detail's of today's outfit:

Reversed Denim Jacket : Maison Martin Margiela
Hi- Top Sneakers : Maison Martin Margiela

Thank you guys for the time reading my posts, please feel free to drop me a note :)

The Grunge Look!!!

I usually don't stick to one look, if people asks me what is my personal style, I honestly tell them my mode of dressing depends on how I feel that day - it does not evolve from one particular look... I love experimenting!!!

One style that I truly love is the grunge fashion! The style combines elements of punk mixed with inexpensive working class clothing, like jeans and plaid fabrics and of course putting it up with all the right accessories

Unlike many other fashion trends, other than plaid, there appears to be no true constant in grunge. What do you think of this look guys?

Details of today's outfit:

Bart Simpson Tee : Bershka
Plaid Shirt Flannel : Zara
Skinny Black Denim : Zara
Platform Boots : Out of the World Tokyo

Don't rely on the clothes you wear!!!

Have you heard of the saying "wear the  clothes, don't let the clothes wear you" basically for my perspective, it's about showing all the confidence in you and don't let the clothes you are wearing outshines you!!! Some might not wear something that are too big and baggy, while others which includes myself goes for something extreme and flamboyant!!!

In this look, I was able to pull off an over sized trousers from Maison Martin Margiela which was first released on the Spring/Summer of 2001!!!

Details of today's outfit :

Felt Hat : Zara
Over sized Shirt : Junya Watanabe
Over sized Trousers : Maison Martin Margiela

What do you think of  this look? Your feedback and suggestions are very much appreciated!!! Please take time to visit my Lookbook account too... Stay tune for more upcoming street style looks

Asian Invasion

After spending two weeks holiday in Philippines last June 2014, I still have 15 days pending leave for July and the ultimate place to spend it is to a neighboring Asian countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia before embarking into my last stop- the Philippines. You bet!! 2 weeks holiday is surely not enough to explore more than 2 countries

1st Stop - the affluent city of Singapore, where modern skyscraper enticed your eyes. coming from Middle east where the weather is ridiculously hot, Singapore's humidity can drive you mad but for a first time explorer, I can't be bothered. As a budget traveler, it is important that you plan your trip ahead of time - Singapore with a reputation of one of the most expensive countries can ripped off your budget if you don't know the cheap way to discover this place. I booked the cheapest hotel in Bugis street - the city's old Malay district and it is now largely taken by shopping, our hotel is close to the MRT station and the best and cheapest way to explore the city is through  train which is way economical than taking a cab.

strolling around Bugis street (hawkers, cheap-finds and shopping markets)

Marina Bay Sands -The newly opened Gardens by the Bay situated next to Marina Bay Sands integrated resort is a large public garden which house two huge cooled conservatories – the Flower Dome and the Cloud Forest as well as a cluster of gigantic Super Trees.
Little India - a piece of India to the northern side of the city core!

Our SG trip would'nt be completed without visiting Universal Studios in Singapore
and for our final day in Singapore, we found the best spot for Couture shoot in one of the modern and futuristic schools called "La Salle" in the heart of the city.

Our 3 days trip in Singapore is truly a great experience, we were able to discover the highs and lows of the cities regardless of the smoldering weather!!! Please watch out for my upcoming post for my Malaysia stopover!!!

Thank you for your time and if you want to see more of Singapore's photos, please check out my FB link at http://www.facebook.com/butch.cervantes

Manila - A tourist in me!!!

Traditional Hat : "Salakot" from Quiapo
Top Tanks : Cotton On
Sweat pants : Cotton On
Hi Top Sneakers : Maison Martin Margiela

While on leave for almost two weeks, I haven't decided whether to go to Brazil for the FIFA World Cup or Casablanca in Morocco  for a nature trip but being a solo traveler sometimes can be scary  to visit any of these countries which has a reputation of a not so safe places to visit to - but safety issue is almost everywhere in the world , Isn't it? After spending 5 days on local leave - I finally decided to just utilize the rest of my remaining days in Manila - Thanks to a dear friend who let me use a staff ticket- that save me a fortune!

The plane arrives the next day and no single moment was wasted - first stop is we went to Quiapo -  It is a district in the bustling, busy and crowded city of Manila. Quiapo gets it name from a floating plant named; "Kiapo" that grew abundantly around that area. This place is made popular for the Quiapo church where you can see the Black Nazarene -  the statue of Jesus of Nazarene is thought to give miracles and blessings. We searched the area looking for some traditional items for my street styling shots and I was fascinated by the art pieces. See photos below;

(wearing a Salakot)

(amazing feather headpiece)

(famous Jeepney in Manila as backdrop)

I could say that it is definitely fun in the Philippines...

More of my upcoming Manila adventures will be posted soon. Please feel free to share any thoughts or suggestions. I am open for any feed backs :) Till next time sweethearts:)

For the Love of Bag

I was clearing out my closet and look what i have found... I did not realized that my collection of bags has gone up from owning a very simple messenger bag from Givenchy few years ago to having designers like Gucci, Burberry, Coach, Longchamp and not to mention those really vintage bags from an antique store in the Philippines, we call it "ukay-ukay" which you could get stuffs for a very cheap prices. My interests with bags started when i was just in my secondary school, I remember owning different kinds of backpack which my mom brought from Taiwan and Saudi and I am flaunting it at school and my classmates were so envious at me then.. ha ha!!!

Personally for me, bag could be one of an ideal accessories to complete my look. In this photo below, I am carrying my Paolo Masi Indy bag. I never heard about this brand before, so i tried to goggle it and i came to know that there is indeed a Paolo Masi designer who originated from Italy.I just love this bag, the leather is so soft, the style is trendy, i can even put my SLR and my Ipad and it goes with my street style look.
